We are also committed to transparency and accountability in the proper management of any personal information you may transmit to us.


The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform you of our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, retention, and destruction of your personal information.


As part of our activities, we collect, use, and process personal information for the purpose of offering some of our services.


By providing us with personal information through our website www.squalls.ca, you agree that your personal information will be processed in accordance with the terms of this policy, and you authorize Squalls and its service providers to use your information for the purposes stated below. Squalls is a marketing consulting agency that combines the strategic rigor of a consulting firm with the creative ingenuity of an agency to offer tailored solutions and measurable results. When you visit our website www.squalls.ca and when you otherwise communicate with us, we may collect and process different types of personal information about you in the course of providing our services, namely the following:

  • Identity information (first and last name);
  • Contact details (email and phone number, postal address);
  • Information about your academic background and professional experience, other information contained in your resume, and any other relevant information when you submit a job application to Squalls;
  • Any other personal information voluntarily provided in the Message section of our contact form available on our website www.squalls.ca;
  • Information that can indirectly identify you: location, including location linked to your IP address, your interests and preferences, including preferred official language, your saved searches, data related to your device (including device identifiers and operating system used), how you interact with our website.

If you are a minor under 14 years of age, you are requested to identify yourself as such and not to provide us with personal information without the express consent of the holder of parental authority or a guardian.

3. How do we collect your personal information?

We collect your personal information in several ways:

Directly from you:

  • When you voluntarily provide personal information by writing in the Message section of our contact form available on our website www.squalls.ca to communicate with us;

Your personal information will be used in accordance with applicable personal information protection legislation and with the consent you have given.

We may therefore use your personal information in the following circumstances and for the stated reasons, in accordance with the framework defined above:

6. How long do we retain personal information?

We will retain your personal information for the fulfillment of the purposes for which it was provided to us and for all compatible or related authorized purposes.


We will therefore cease to use and retain your personal information once the purposes in question have been achieved. This is subject to the application of legal or regulatory retention periods.

7. Where do we store personal information and international transfers?

Your personal information is stored on a third-party cloud server, and the data hosted on this server is located in the United States of America on Dropbox.


Your personal information may be disclosed to service providers whose facilities are located outside Quebec and Canada. You therefore consent to the transfer of your personal information to countries or provinces (other than the province of Quebec) where personal information protection rules may differ.


However, we ensure that these providers offer adequate protection with regard to generally known personal information protection principles by first conducting a privacy impact assessment and having a written agreement signed by said providers to that effect.

8. How do we protect personal information?

We recognize that information security is an integral part of personal information confidentiality.


We implement industry best practices to ensure the protection of personal information in accordance with applicable protection legislation in this area.


To this end, we maintain reasonable physical, technical, or procedural safeguards to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, and destruction, and against any other breach of the protection of such information not in compliance with current legislation.


All Squalls staff members, as well as third-party providers whose services we may retain and who process personal information on our behalf, are also contractually obligated to respect the security and confidentiality of personal information.

9. Links to other sites

The Squalls website may offer hyperlinks to other sites. Information exchanged on these sites is not subject to this privacy policy, but rather to that of the external site concerned, if one exists. If applicable, we invite you to consult it before communicating your personal information to third parties.


Squalls cannot be held responsible for the policies, procedures, and practices of its partners regarding the protection of personal information.

10. What rights does an individual have regarding their personal information?

Rights of access, rectification, and withdrawal of consent


To access your personal information, to request a rectification of your personal information, or to withdraw your consent to the disclosure or use of your personal information, you must send a written request to Squalls’ Personal Information Protection Officer (contact details are at the end of this Policy).


The rectification request must be particularly precise and correctly identify you to allow Squalls to adequately correct or complete personal information deemed inaccurate or incomplete.


The request for withdrawal of consent will result in the termination of the benefits of services offered by Squalls for the person concerned.


Processing of requests


Squalls will normally respond to requests for access, rectification, or withdrawal of consent within 30 days, in accordance with the deadlines prescribed by the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.


All necessary assistance will be reasonably provided to individuals concerned who wish to access or rectify their personal information, including clarifying exactly what they are looking for.


Depending on the amount of information requested as part of an access request, nominal fees may be reasonably charged to cover the costs incurred in responding to the request.


Written notification is provided if Squalls must deny an individual access to their personal information for legal, regulatory, or other reasons.


Your recourse before the Commission d’Accès à l’Information


If you are not satisfied with how Squalls has handled your request for access to or rectification of your personal information, particularly in the event of no response or an unsatisfactory response, you may submit a request for review of disagreement to the Commission d’Accès à l’Information.
